City Pages Beer Festival

Now in its 16th year, the City Pages Beer Festival will offer beer samplings to Uptown residents and visitors. The party will take place in the center of Hennepin Avenue between 31st Street and Lake Street. City Pages, St. Paul Jaycees, Famous Dave's and SRO Productions invite you to join in on the fun at this great Uptown event. 5:00pm - 9:00pm. $25.00 (adv), $28.00 (door), $8.00 (designated driver).

City of Lakes Loppet

This 35km cross-country ski race around Minneapolis ends on the streets of Uptown. Enter the various races or go out dog sledding. The event features skijoring (dogs with skiers), sprints, cross-country, and a luminary ski outing.

Coffee Festival

Warm up this fall with the smells and taste of fresh coffee! The 18th Annual Coffee Festival is returning to Calhoun Square. Besides over 20 freshly-brewed coffee samples, enjoy live acoustic music, improvisational comedy shows by Comedy Sportz, fortune reading, and caffeinated caricatures. Proceeds to benefit Clare Housing,  Partners in AIDS Care, and Joyce Emergency Food Shelf. Receive a specially designed Coffee Festival mug and all-day pass to each vendor and attractions. 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. $9.00 (includes coffee mug, access to all entertainment and attractions, and event admittance). First 1,000 attendees will receive a $5.00 discount to be used at participating Calhoun Square retailers and restaurants.

Bryant Lake Bowl Block Party 
Saturday, September 15, 2007

From local and organic food, cold beverages, local artists, flea market, great music, a North Star Rollergirls mini derby, the Minneapolis Air Guitar Champions, and Human Bowling, the Bryant Lake Bowl Block Party will provide for a whole lot of fun. A portion of the event proceeds will benefit the Minnesota Fringe Festival. Entertainment includes acts Black Blondie, Truant Lovers, Venus DeMars, All the Pretty Horses, National Bird, Zibra Zibra, and Heiruspecs. An after party will take place inside Bryant Lake Bowl. 5:00 PM - 10:30 PM. Free. Rain or shine. Located on Bryant Avenue at Lake Street.

Taste of Greece

Blockalypse - Pizza Luce Block Party

Although not quite in Uptown's main business district, this Uptown-area business will liven the streets around Lyndale Avenue and 32nd Street for its annual block party. This all-day, street party features live bands (2nd Hand Ska Kings, Buckets and Tap Shoes, The Jacobins, The Diealone, Dad in Common, Brother and Sister, Little Man, Likehell, The Alarmists, Chooglin, Doomtree), brats, and of course, pizza (and even more fun things). 2007 US Pond Hockey Championships

The 2nd Annual US Pond Hockey Championships returns to Lake Calhoun this January. The tournament features 25 pond hockey rinks on Lake Calhoun and a wide range of teams competing against each other. This event was moved to Lake Nokomis due to thin ice at Lake Calhoun.

Coffee Festival

Warm up this fall with the smells and taste of fresh coffee! The 17th Annual Coffee Festival is returning to Calhoun Square. Proceeds to benefit Clare Housing - Partners in AIDS Care. Receive a specially designed Coffee Festival mug and all-day pass to each vendor and attractions.

Check out coffee vendors Sati Coffee, Custom Roasting, Tea Source, Peace Coffee, Alakef Coffee Roasters, Morning Star Coffee, Starbucks, and more! Dessert samples will be served by The Independent, Muddy Paws Cheesecake, Famous Dave's, Melting Pot, and many more.

Besides great coffee, check out Celebrity Barista featuring local celebrities serving up espresso and the Pie and Coffee Stage that features demonstrations from local chefs and authors on making great pies.

There's more: check out Comedy Sportz (included in admission fee), as there will be four 20-minute performances during the event. Coffee Art Exhibition will highlight various students' artistic renditions of coffee's aroma and taste.

City of Lakes Loppet

The 2004 Loppet was too cold, the 2005 too warm, but that just means 2006 will be just right. The City of Lakes Loppet is the largest urban cross-country ski event in the United States. The events include races for various age groups and distances. The third annual (2005) event was an Olympic qualifier and drew contestants from all over. For a schedule, click here.

Bryant Square Park Ice Cream Social
