Lumen on Lagoon

Note: The author of OurUptown.com works for one of the project's developers.

Dubbed "Uptown's new center of attention," this residential and street-level commercial project greets those entering Uptown from the east. At Lagoon Avenue and Emerson Avenue, Lumen on Lagoon is a part of the transformation of the east side of Uptown. New residential development along the Midtown Greenway and the commercial development at Emerson and Lake Street called Uptown Row, have begun to change the industrial and auto-oriented commercial buildings that dot the landscape.

The project will add 44 residential condos and 11,700 square feet of new (well, new construction) commercial space to its corner. It will replace a single story commercial building that had housed a bike shop, medical clinic, a real estate company, and dental clinic in recent years.

Construction began in May 2006 and was completed in May 2007.

July 29, 2006: In the last two weeks Lumen on Lagoon managed to grow to its second story. Pre-cast concrete used in the garage and first floor and ceiling have made the project quickly move from simply a hole in the ground to an exciting construction project.
