Construction Begins at Lumen

Pre-cast concrete allowed developers to reduce the cost of construction by having it produced off-site and quickly put into place on site.

The process of removing the building at Lumen on Lagoon took around a week and closed several lanes of traffic in Uptown. Minneapolis will see the Lumen on Lagoon project grow quickly out of the ground one work on its underground parking garage is complete.

Once home to Fairview Uptown medical clinic, a bike shop, offices, and various other businesses over the years, the building at the Southwest corner of Emerson Avenue and Lagoon Avenue began the process of being recycled in May 2006. Contractors removed most recyclable materials from the building, such as the metal studs shown above.

A real-looking rendering gives a better impression of the final outcome of the Lumen on Lagoon project. A few elements have changed since this rendering was released, such as the ladder-looking overhang's removal.
