STATUS UPDATES
August 18, 2009: Neighborhood residents and a few neighborhood organizations appealed the decision of the Planning Commission. The City Council denied the appeal but did require the developer to scale the number of units back from 65 to 55 and increase the sidewalk width.
July 17, 2009: Planning Commission approved the project, except for one set-back, on July 13, 2009. Plans approved were different than the original plans presented early in the spring.
April 13, 2009: It sounds like the project was redesigned some to better work within their zoning requirements, though the building's heights have remained relatively unchanged. More on this as information becomes available.
March 2, 2009: Sources have indicated that the project has been slightly reduced in its scale. Several neighborhood organizations have taken stances against the project. The project may go to the Planning Commission in March or April.
January 11, 2009: The project will likely go to the Planning Commission in early February.

Project Description
CPM Development has proposed a new five story, office-retail-apartment building at the northeast corner of Lake Street and Knox Avenue across from Lake Calhoun in Uptown Minneapolis. The site currently consists of five multi-family properties, one of which contains an office for a construction firm. The project would include a small cafe space at the corner of Lake Street and Knox Avenue and some additional office space in the building.
The project is proposed as two buildings sharing a common wall and underground parking. The project would have five stories with the top floor stepping back from the edge of the building at the upper floors. The building on the corner of Lake Street and Knox Avenue would occupy about 2,250 Sq. Ft. per floor, with the first floor housing a cafe, the second and third offices, and the fourth floor two of the 67 apartment units. The other building would house 65 of the 67 apartment units.
A 74-stall underground parking garage would have access from Knox Avenue. Bike storage would be provided in the ramp. A plaza/forecourt would be adjacent to the cafe and in front of the apartment building entry.
