Uptown has four neighborhoods surrounding its core. The organizations representing these neighborhoods put on events for neighbors, provide opinions to the City on development and license issues, are responsible for their neighborhood's NRP program (money from the city to improve the neighborhood), etc. In addition, they play an important role in keeping the community connected to what's going on in their area and put on community events.

East Isles Residents Association
The neighborhood's boundaries include Hennepin Avenue and Lake of the Isles, Lake Street and 22nd Street. The group meets on the third Tuesday of every month at Grace Trinity Church at Humboldt and 28th Street. The group does not meet during the summer months.

Lowry Hill East Neighborhood Association (LHENA)
The neighborhood, between Hennepin Avenue and Lyndale Avenue, Lake Street and Franklin Avenue, is known as "the Wedge" to many.

East Calhoun Community Organization (ECCO)
ECCO exists between Lake Calhoun and Hennepin Avenue, and 36th Street and Lake Street.

Calhoun Area Resident Action Group (CARAG)
CARAG represents those between Lyndale Avenue and Hennepin Avenue, and 36th Street and Lake Street. The neighborhood meets on the third Tuesday of the month at 7pm at Bryant Square Park. The group has a weak-Board system.

These organizations are open to all who want to attend, however voting on issues differs. Some groups have a strong-Board set-up, meaning that on many issues the Board makes the decisions. The general voting populations (those who live within the neighborhood or operate a business, typically) vote in the Board members. One potential benefit of this design is that the Board members would attend all meetings and should have a solid understanding of the issues regarding a topic, and thus can make an informed decision. Another method used is the weak-Board system, where anyone in attendance (typically someone within the neighborhood) can vote on an issue. The up-side is that everyone's voice gets heard. Two significant downsides are that topics often carry from one meeting to another and those not in-the-know on an issue can shape the decision, and that stacking of the vote can easily occur.
