TCM Health Center opens in Lumen on Lagoon
April 10, 2008 - In late March 2008, TCM Health Center opened its doors after a lengthy stay in a building at Lake Street and Girard Avenue that is slated to be demolished for the expansion of Calhoun Square.

Calhoun Square sees business closures
April 10, 2008 - Passage to India, The Lotus, Sundog Trading Company, Express, and others exit Calhoun Square as redevelopment plans move forward. Read the Southwest Journal article on what's happening with some of the businesses.

The North Face and Victoria's Secret scheduled to open in March
February 24, 2008 - Victoria's Secret should open March 6th, according to the Uptown Association. It is still uncertain how unique the retailer's Uptown location will be. When first announced, Victoria's Secret was considering a Pink concept store for the site. Just down the street, retailer The North Face, is scheduled to open on March 28th, according to their website.

Fashion boutique, Covered, to move into Lumen on Lagoon
February 24, 2008 - Dinkytown retailer, Covered, will open a second location in Uptown. Currently offering women's denim, tops, accessories, and dresses, Covered will begin offering men's clothing in Uptown. The store is scheduled to open in late spring.

Urban Traveler to move into Rainbow Building
February 24, 2008 - Located within Calhoun Square for 25 years, Urban Traveler is joining The Rainbow Building this spring. The proposed reconstruction at Calhoun Square forced the retailer to look for a new home. Urban Traveler will occupy the space formerly occupied by the Mozaic Condominium Sales Center. The Mozaic project is now proposed as apartments and therefore does not need a sales center.

Minneapolis named great new city to shop in, highlights Uptown businesses
January 12, 2008 - Lucky magazine named Minneapolis one of the best new cities to shop in. A few of the reasons are thanks to Uptown businesses: Design Collective, Ivy, and Letterbox.

Muddy Paws closes
January 12, 2008 - Muddy Paws, the deli that offered many varieties of cheesecakes, closed their 25th & Hennepin location in December. According to the Southwest Journal, the owners are opening up a location in St. Louis Park that will allow them to better focus on their cheesecake production.

Gelato/Coffee shop to open at Bryant-Lake; Video Store rebrands
January 12, 2008 - Jackson’s, a proposed coffee shop, deli, gelato place is planning on opening on the northeast corner of Bryant-Lake. The café will occupy some of the space that the Panorama Video occupied. The video store consolidated its space and renamed itself “Uptown Video.” The proposed hours of the café are 7:00am to 10:00pm. Jackson’s believes it will need a parking variance of 5 stalls to open. The building owner is adding bike racks behind the building. They are targeting an April opening.

Come celebrate New Years resolutions at CorePower Yoga
December 22, 2007 - CorePower Yoga will open its 5th Minneapolis location in the Lumen on Lagoon building (southwest corner of Lagoon and Emerson) on Dec. 29th. CorePower Yoga will offer a variety of yoga classes ranging in style and intensity in a new facility containing showers and locker rooms, and offer yoga clothing products.
